Verify Telegram joins with your own bot

Use a Telegram bot you own to check that people really joined your channel or group.

The Join Telegram Channel/Group action can check that each player joined before their entries count. Checking needs a Telegram bot that you own, added as an admin of your channel or group.

Create your bot

  1. In Telegram, open @BotFather and send /newbot.
  2. Follow the prompts to name your bot.
  3. Copy the API token BotFather gives you.

Open @BotFather

Make the bot an admin

  1. Open your channel or group in Telegram.
  2. Add your bot as an admin.

Save the bot in Vast

  1. Open Integrations and find Telegram Bot.
  2. Paste the token into API Key and choose Connect.
  3. This step is optional, but it lets every giveaway use the bot without pasting the token again.

Set up the action

  1. In the How people enter step, choose Add more actions, then Telegram, then Join Telegram Channel/Group.
  2. Under Channel/Group Type, choose Public or Private.
  3. Paste the Invite Link. Public links look like https://t.me/channelname, and private links start with https://t.me/+.
  4. For a private channel or group, enter the Chat Title exactly as it shows in Telegram.
  5. Under Tracking options, choose Check follow status.
  6. Choose Use site settings to use the bot you saved in Integrations, or Custom settings and paste the token into Telegram Bot Token.

If the bot isn't an admin

With Tracking options set to None, Vast doesn't check. Players choose Submit after they join.

Players need to connect their own Telegram account to do this action.
